I’ve known it all along. And so have you. I’d get older. You’d get older. We’re all getting older.
One day, I woke up. And guess what: I was older. I didn’t feel older, but there was no denying it. The calendar doesn’t lie. Or does it?
Age is not just about the number of birthdays you’ve had. It’s about attitude. And intention. It’s about involvement with life. I admit it: I’ve slowed down. I don’t stand quite as tall as I once did. I never had a great memory, and I have an even less great one now. But when I think of what is important to me in this phase of life, I say with pride, “I am growing older, gracefully”. This is my job: to keep learning and growing, experimenting and discovering; to connect with others, through words, through activities, with forgiveness for our mistakes and with an open heart. To write about the journey and hope that, through the writing, I can be of service.
I try to be as aware as I can be of my own aging processes. I am enormously grateful for this life and for this opportunity I have to keep living … until I die. I study about, talk with others about, learn and write about this opportunity I/we all have, to age gracefully. This web site, and the book I am currently working on, all about the challenge - to age gracefully. I hope you’ll enjoy. Come visit. Let’s play and learn together.
